Ogden’s independent spirit began more than 150 years ago when the town was first settled. With the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad, Downtown Ogden was changed forever. From the 1870s to World War II, Ogden was a major railroad town with nine rail system terminals. The business exchange and commerce from the railroad propelled Ogden to become the largest development north of Salt Lake City. The connection of the Union Pacific and Central Pacific rail lines rightfully earned Ogden the nickname, “Junction City.” Visitors from all over the world began to travel west. As traffic through Ogden increased, the town began to grow, enticing a diverse group of shop owners and developers. Much of that early architecture remains today, most notably, Historic 25th Street, which is nestled between Ogden’s Union Station and the breathtaking Wasatch Mountains.
