Ogden Downtown Alliance

In the past, Ogden downtown alliance was primarily known as an event organization. 2020 really affected the Alliance and helped us to gain refocus on our other organizational pillars. Though we were able to keep one of our smaller events, Music On The Plaza, and also our key summer long event, Farmers Market Ogden (though in a modified form). Farmers Market Ogden is generally held each Saturday on Historic 25th Street from June through September. Farmers Market Ogden is a key aspect in connecting the community to local food sources. Due to restrictions on live music at events we created a new virtual platform for local musicians to perform called “Friday’s Live.” Each week, coinciding with Farmers Market Ogden we recorded a live-set performance from local musicians and shared from our Facebook and Youtube channels.

We also launched a brand new project called “These Are Your Stories.” Through a call for art to our local community, we collected stories, poems, digital art, and mural works that were all assembled into a twenty-page magazine and five murals throughout the downtown. A copy of the magazine was delivered to every address in the city.

As the holidays approached, the Ogden Downtown Alliance was able to partner with Christmas Village to take the Friday’s Live concept and shift it for the season. Local artists performed their holiday favorites for mini concerts each week leading up to Christmas. The audio from these mini concerts was broadcast at Christmas Village and at several local businesses and restaurants throughout the holiday season.
